Lincoln Restoration Goals

Kristan when purchasing this car had already in her mind the car will not be it's original green.

This car by the colors of the paint on the body was over sprayed probably about 25 years ago a darker green than the original lighter green.

Kristan has chosen to paint the entire car a gloss black. The interior seats will have black where the green vinyl and leather is, and a mauve fabric where the lighter green fabric is. The chrome has been stripped off of the car and any other necessary parts removed. The under carriage will stripped of the surface rust cleaned and coated. Kristan has no intentions of making the car completely original but to be a very nice car. The car will be equipped with a nice sound system that will be hidden as to keep the original interior look. The only body filler will be on the drivers-side to skim where the fender was hit several years ago and then again more recent. The dent has been worked out as much as possible to restore the original shape. The engine and drive-train will be kept original, and only rebuilt if necessary.

As of May 29th 2006, the car has been painted (which did not turn out as expected). The paint came out a little rough. Not sure as why the paint did this other than the surface was extremely dry and it drew all of the moisture from the paint. Kristan however likes the paint on the car. We may at a later time strip it back down and re-paint it. The Car has 4 new tires and is now a drivable vehicle. There appears to be a small leak at the tail piece of the transmission, and a small leak at the front of the oil pan. The power windows work on the door panels that are hooked up. Kristan was told when she purchased the car the driver's door window would not go up. When we installed the new battery it came right up. There are a lot things that still need to be done like getting the rear seats back from the upholstery shop. The car needs a complete exhaust system as the one on the car is rusted through in a few places. The car seams to be a very solid car and I am very impressed as to the progress that has been made so far to date.
